Charity Spotlight: Invictus K9

Across Africa, wildlife protection is an incredibly complex challenge. Rangers are often working across vast, remote landscapes where poachers can move quickly, quietly and under the cover of darkness. In these environments, a well-trained conservation dog can become one of the most valuable tools on the ground.

This month, we are proud to spotlight Invictus K9, an organisation dedicated to supporting anti-poaching efforts through specialist working dog training, advisory support and conservation-focused canine programmes.

Invictus K9 has worked with conservation programmes throughout Africa, helping to establish and strengthen K9 units that play a crucial role in protecting wildlife. Their work includes supporting the development of dog and handler teams trained for anti-poaching operations, tracking and field response.

The organisation was founded by Jay Crafter, who brings extensive military and working dog training experience to conservation. Born in Zimbabwe, Jay has both British and US military experience and qualified as a Class 1 trainer with the British Army’s Royal Army Veterinary Corps. His background has allowed him to apply high-level working dog training to some of Africa’s most urgent conservation challenges.

In the field, anti-poaching dogs can make an extraordinary difference. Their powerful sense of smell allows them to follow human scent trails across difficult terrain, often long after those tracks would be impossible for people to detect. Depending on their training, conservation K9s can assist with locating poachers, finding snares, detecting firearms and ammunition, and supporting investigations linked to wildlife crime.

For endangered species such as rhinos, elephants, pangolins and many other vulnerable animals, this kind of support can be life-saving. A skilled K9 team can help rangers respond faster, cover more ground and increase the chances of preventing poaching before it happens.

But behind every successful conservation dog is a huge amount of training, equipment, care and ongoing handler support. These teams require specialist knowledge, reliable gear and continuous investment to remain effective in the field.

That is why organisations like Invictus K9 are so important. Their work strengthens the people and dogs standing on the front lines of wildlife protection, helping to build practical, field-ready solutions for reserves and conservation teams across Africa.

To honour this work, we created the Invictus K9 Regalite Bracelet, a meaningful charity bracelet designed to reflect both the strength of the organisation and the remarkable dogs working alongside anti-poaching teams.

Crafted with Regalite, a dark black-cocoa jasper with veins of light khaki brown, the bracelet is a striking tribute to the brave Belgian Malinois that help protect wildlife in the field. Regalite is associated with stability, composure and wholeness, qualities that beautifully echo the focus, discipline and courage required of both conservation dogs and their handlers.

As with our charity bracelet collection, 50% of profits from the Invictus K9 Regalite Bracelet is donated to Invictus K9, helping to support the vital work being done to protect Africa’s wildlife from poaching and wildlife crime.

At Wild In Africa, we believe conservation is not only about protecting wildlife from a distance. It is about supporting the dedicated people, animals and organisations doing the difficult work every day.

Through our Invictus K9 Regalite Bracelet, we are honoured to help raise awareness and support for a conservation partner whose work is practical, powerful and deeply important. Every purchase helps shine a light on the remarkable K9 teams working to protect Africa’s wildlife, one track, one patrol and one brave dog at a time.
